Forget the Academy Awards. Why? Because they forget about horror movies. Go check out the Chainsaw Awards instead.
On Friday, Fangoria and Fangoria Studios announced their 2023 Chainsaw Award nominations, recognizing outstanding achievements in horror films and television. Starting all the way back in 1992, the institution honors a genre that, quite frankly, is forgotten about by the big award ceremonies. Some past winners include Wes Craven, Lupita Nyong’o, Anthony Hopkins, and Elisabeth Moss.
As for the 2023 nominations, Nope led the pack with 10 nominations, including best wide release movie and best director. Other nominees for other categories include Barbarian, Pearl, Hellraiser, Chucky, and Yellowjackets. They even introduced some new categories this year, like Best Short and Best Cinematography.
You can vote for your favorites on the Fangoria website through February 27th at 11:59 PM PT. Details on the award ceremony and how to watch are coming soon.
