Ayo Edibiri started off as a chef in Chicago on The Bear and now she’ll be hanging out with superheroes in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts. Deadline reports that The Bear actress has joined Thunderbolts in a new secret role. Edibiri joins an ensemble that was announced at D23 featuring Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Olga Kurylenko. The team in the new movie features anti-heroes or straight up villains forced to work together on a dangerous mission that no one else will take. Thunderbolts releases in theaters on July 26th, 2024.
Jake Schreier is directing a script from Eric Pearson. Little is known about the film’s plot besides that it follows up the storylines we got in Black Widow and Hawkeye. This is Ayo Edibiri’s first major studio starring role after her turn on The Bear and her role in Netflix’s Big Mouth. She recently appeared in Theater Camp which just premiered at Sundance Film Festival.
Thunderbolts is a turning point for the Marvel Cinematic Universe because it includes plenty of characters we’ve seen in just the Disney+ series, but also from other films like Black Widow and various Captain America films.
