Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher leading a romantic comedy? It may feel like the early 2000s, but rest assured, it’s actually 2023 on Netflix. Get ready for Your Place or Mine.

Debbie (Witherspoon) and Peter (Kutcher) have been best friends for 20 years even though they are total opposites. Practical, risk-averse accountant Debbie craves routine and stability with her son Jack in LA; Stylish brand consultant Peter thrives on change in New York City. When they swap houses and lives for a week, they learn they haven’t told each other everything after all and discover what they think they want might not be what they really need.

“Through the years, with every romantic comedy that I thought about doing, I would always ask if Reese was available. I’ve wanted to work with her my entire career. And so, when I was approached about this film, I immediately said yes,” said Kutcher.

The film comes from writer/director Aline Brosh McKenna (27 Dresses).

“It’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, not just because it’s a love story, but really because there are a lot of different kinds of love in the movie,” said Brosh McKenna. “There’s parental love, friend love, and even love for a city that you live in.”

In addition to Witherspoon and Kutcher, the film also stars Jesse Williams, Zoë Chao, Wesley Kimmel, Griffin Matthews, Rachel Bloom, Shiri Appleby, and Vella Lovell, with Tig Notaro and Steve Zahn.

Your Place or Mine premieres on Netflix February 10.
