Princess and the Frog fans, we’re almost there. In addition to the launch of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Disneyland will also bring the princess’s presence to New Orleans Square.
The French Market Restaurant will get a makeover this year, transforming into Tiana’s Palace. The updated eatery will draw inspiration from Tiana’s dream restaurant in The Princess and the Frog movie. The menu will stay similar to the current popular dishes at the French Market, but with more seasonal flavors.
Disney first revealed plans for Tiana’s Palace during D23 Expo in September 2022. It seemed like a pretty natural conclusion to transform the French Market into Tiana’s Palace. New Orleans Square should feature Disney’s biggest film set in the city.
Now, we have a more concrete timeline for the update. The French Market Restaurant (and the Mint Julep Bar inside) will officially close on February 17, 2023. Then, it will reopen as Tiana’s Palace later this year.
That makes 2023-2024 a big time for Princess and the Frog fans. Besides Tiana’s Palace popping up in New Orleans Square, we also have the Splash Mountain update on the way at both Disneyland and Disney World. Splash Mountain will officially close on January 23 at Disney World to begin the renovation process, reopening as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in 2024. A closure date for the ride at Disneyland has yet to be announced. However, it likely won’t come far behind Disney World’s closure, as the ride still plans to open at Disneyland in 2024 as well.
