Dune: Part 2 has already wrapped production, but it looks like a veteran character actor has joined the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Blake Nelson has joined the cast of Denis Villeneuve’s sequel. He joins Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Lea Seydoux, and Christopher Walken in the film as newcomers.
His role is under wraps right now, so it’s unknown who or what he’ll be playing. Dune: Part 2 is adapting the second half of Frank Herbert‘s first Dune novel. It sees Paul Atreides (Timothy Chalamet) teaming up with the desert-dwelling Fremen to liberate Arrakis from the villainous House Harkonnen.
Dune: Part 2 will be released on November 3rd, 2023 in theaters. Villeneuve is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Jon Spaights.
As for Nelson, he’s been a busy man with roles in Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities and also in Del Toro’s Pinocchio. He also received acclaim for The Ballad Of Buster Skruggs and Old Henry.
We’ll have to see what his role entails in the sequel.
