UPDATE: After last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, it was announced that Saraya’s partner in the tag-team match would actually be Toni Storm. Additionally, Dave Meltzer of Pro Wrestling Observer is reporting that Mercedes Mone has not in fact signed with AEW. This being professional wrestling, that could be a smokescreen, so we’ll have to find out when AEW Dynamite airs next Wednesday in Los Angeles.
A new report from DAZN’s Steven Muehlhausen is stating that Mercedes Mone (FNA Sasha Banks) has signed with AEW. He also reports that Mone will be Saraya’s tag-team partner in her tag match against Britt Baker and AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter in Los Angeles next week on AEW Dynamite.
It’s been speculated that Mone/Banks would go to AEW as it’s a logical destination for someone of her talent. She made her wrestling re-debut last night at the Tokyo Dome during Wrestle Kingdom 17 in a segment with Kairi. They both have a match for the IWGP Women’s Title next month in San Jose. AEW and New Japan have a good working relationship, so it’s feasible that they both are using Mone.
We’ll keep you updated on this story as it develops.
