It looks like John Luther’s journey continues. Netflix just revealed it will drop Luther: The Fallen Sun in March!

The feature film will see Idris Elba reprise his role as the detective from the TV series Luther, which aired five seasons to date. Netflix describes the new project as “an epic continuation of the award-winning television saga reimagined for film.”

Here’s the official synopsis for Luther: The Fallen Sun:

A gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther (Elba) sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary.

The film comes from writer Neil Cross, who created the TV series. Jamie Payne will direct. (Payne also directed several episodes of the TV series.)

In addition to Elba, Luther: The Fallen Sun also stars Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis. Plus, Dermot Crowley returns as Martin Schenk.
