Another Tom Cruise movie, another incident of Tom Cruise doing the absolute most with his stunts. As the release for the next Mission: Impossible movie gets closer, we’re getting a behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest, most dangerous, action-packed moments of Dead Reckoning.
A new featurette from Paramount Pictures shows Cruise and his team preparing a stunt for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. It’s a move Paramount is billing as “the biggest stunt in cinema history.” It involves Cruise driving a motorcycle off a cliff, and using that as a launching point to begin a BASE jump.
“This is far and away the most dangerous thing we’ve ever attempted,” Cruise says in the behind-the-scenes clip.
Watch Cruise and his team discuss and prep the stunt in the clip below.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One marks the action franchise’s seventh feature. It comes from writer/director Christopher McQuarrie, who previously helmed movies five (Rogue Nation) and six (Fallout). McQuarrie also produces the film alongside Cruise.
In addition to Cruise, who reprises his role as Ethan Hunt, the film stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Frederick Schmidt, Charles Parnell, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, and Mark Gatiss.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will premiere in theaters July 14, 2023.
