From Penny in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog to Charlie on Supernatural, Felicia Day pops up in some of the biggest projects in geek media. And even when you don’t physically see her on screen, you’re hearing her voice in everything from Adventure Time to Fallout: New Vegas. Now, Day gets to embrace her love for gaming and the supernatural in a new role: Monster High.

Monster High follows a group of fashionable teenage monsters – including Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura, Frankie Stein, and Deuce Gorgon – as they discover who they are, embrace their differences, and learn to be fierce and fearless at the one place they all belong: Monster High. The Nickelodeon animated series premiered back in October this year.

Now, a new character joins the Monster High crew: Ghoulia Yelps, voiced by Day.

“Ghoulia is a zombie, but she’s also a gamer, and a skateboarder, and much more sporty than I am in person. But she’s still kind of quirky and not so confident when it comes to people in real life,” Day told THS.

Day’s first appearance as Ghoulia will happen in the Monster High holiday special “Nightmare Nightmore.” The episode follows Draculaura’s attempts to host the perfect holiday party. But when things don’t go as planned, she struggles to cope with unmet expectations and sharing the spotlight with someone new.

“The wonderful thing about the show is that being a monster is an analogy for dealing with a lot of issues that kids deal with,” Day added. “And Shae Fontana, the showrunner, has really infused every episode with a lot of emotion, and a lot of celebrating differences and diversity and embracing who you are, whether you have a monster inside or not.”

Day said she was excited for the opportunity to bring Ghoulia to life, and to play a character that reminds everyone that girls can play video games and be thoughtful, supportive friends.

“I just love her so much,” Day said. “I hope people love her as much as I do.”

Day’s character Ghoulia will be introduced in the holiday special, but will also appear in future episodes of the series.
