If you haven’t been on Instagram Reels or TikTok lately, Ghost‘s track “Mary On A Cross” has swept the platform with metal fans and non-metal fans alike making videos with the song. Whether it’s the normal studio version or the slowed and reverbed version, the song is incredibly popular. To capture this popularity, Ghost has released a new lyric video with some footage of Cardinal Copia’s dad playing the song. Check it out below.

The song, which has lyrics that either evoke religious sacrilege or marijuana or both, sounds like a lost hit from the 1960s, which is what Ghost presents it as. Of course, with the way Ghost twists lyrics and musical expectations, there’s always something bubbling under the surface.

This video is also out there to promote the first repressing of their LP “Seven Inches Of Satanic Panic”. You can grab the special edition purple vinyl version here! The vinyl includes the tracks “Mary On A Cross” and “Kiss The Go-Goat”.

If you like this track, check out Ghost’s most recent album, Impera. We haven’t done the year-end best metal album list yet, but this one is definitely going to be high on the list.
