Get ready to experience the wild, wild West. Netflix just announced a new limited series, American Primeval, about the birth of the American West.
American Primeval explores the violent collisions of cultures, religions, and communities as men and women fight and die for control of this new world – for a land they truly believe is their destiny. The ensemble outlines the sacrifice all must pay when they choose to enter a lawless and untamed wilderness.
Taylor Kitsch will lead the series as Isaac, a traumatized man struggling to overcome his demons and find a reason to live in this brutal and punishing world.
The series comes from executive producer Eric Newman (Children of Men, Narcos: Mexico). Pete Berg (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor) will direct all six episodes of the limited series, written by executive producer Mark L. Smith (The Midnight Sky, The Revenant).
“American Primeval is a portrait of the American West unlike any other – raw, thrilling, action-driven and brought to life by a tapestry of emotionally compelling characters led by the talented Taylor Kitsch,” said Netflix VP of Scripted Series, Peter Friedlander. “We’re excited to explore new depths of this genre as we grow our creative partnership with the extraordinary Pete Berg at the helm backed by the deft storytelling vision from Eric Newman and Mark L. Smith.”
American Primeval marks the second collaboration between Berg, Newman, and Kitsch at Netflix. Their limited series Painkiller will debut on the platform in 2023. Netflix did not announce a premiere date for the series at this time.
