Starting a game of Minecraft should be a simple affair. You start off with nothing and build up your resources and the terrain in whatever image you want. However, in some incredibly strange starts to the game, you might end up with something like the monster pictured above.
Minecraft is still one of the most popular games of all time even through its now decade-plus life. A Minecraft development group named Stardust Labs found one of the strangest naturally occurring events in Minecraft.
This lake of hellfire and brimstone is what happens when the game generates a sinkhole close to your spawn. This lake goes all the way down to the bedrock of the world. Their Tweet above states that it only happens around once in every 5 million seeds. Minecraft worlds are generated with lakes and rivers with something they call “Weirdness”. When the Weirdness number goes up, it starts creating lakes. If it goes above 1.85 on a world, the lake becomes deeper than the bottom of the world, breaking the entire game.
That’s not the strangest thing though. Not by a long shot. One in five million are long odds, but what about 1 in 500 million? That’s what happened when Stardust Labs found a similar type lake reaching past the bottom of the world, this time with a village inside it.
So even after 11 years, Minecraft is still giving us fantastic and strange things we’ve never seen before. The content for the game is still ongoing as well.
So, what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen in Minecraft? Let us know in the comments!
