Did you ever think the Grey Knights in Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters were missing something from their arsenal? Something big, shooty, and stompy? Well, good news, everyone! Frontier Foundry had heard your complaints and is planning to address them in the new expansion for the game. Don’t believe me? Then check out the Dreadnought action for yourself in the announcement trailer below:
Dreadnoughts Incoming!
Frontier Foundry is proud to announce the Duty Eternal expansion to Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters with that announcement trailer above on the game’s official website and on their official YouTube channel. Said trailer gives us exactly what fans would expect with the introduction of Dreadnoughts to the game. The harsh metallic, grating tones the voice actor uses for the Dreadnought are just perfect for the big stompy mecha the Dreadnoughts are. You really get a sense that this is a big, heavy, biomechanical tank here. With a nearly dead Space Marine piloting it to boot. “Only in death does duty end” indeed.
However, the Dreadnought doesn’t get all the focus here. At the beginning of this Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters trailer, we get a look at the new Techmarine class. He also speaks with a metallic tone similar to the Dreadnought’s voice, but it sounds more electronic than the Dreadnought. It’s fitting for someone who’s basically both a Tech-priest and a Space Marine simultaneously. We also see this Techmarine basically hitting the Dreadnought’s on/off switch on a console to turn him on. It’s a nice reference to how the new Techmarine class is supposed to support the Dreadnoughts, in addition to the other cool stuff they can do.
Fortunately, we won’t have long to wait before we can try out this expansion to Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters for ourselves. The final few seconds of the announcement trailer reveals that the Duty Eternal expansion will roll out on December 6, 2022. As of this writing, that’s only 2 weeks away, so you won’t have long to wait. Of course, since this is an expansion, you need the base game to play it. You can purchase that base game either on Steam or on the Epic Games Store. The price is the same in either store, so you can just pick whichever one you want to buy from. Unfortunately, the one thing we don’t have is the price of this expansion. I think we’ll just have to wait until later for that.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters: Duty Eternal Details
It’s not just Dreadnoughts and Techmarines Frontier Foundry are adding to Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters with the Duty Eternal expansion though. You need these new powerful units for a reason. The devs are adding a new strain of Bloom to the game to compensate for them. This new Bloom will be called the Technophage Outbreak. They give no details as to what this new Bloom strain entails. However, the name suggests that your machines and other technology will not be safe from it.
In addition to the new Bloom strain, the Duty Eternal expansion will also add a Gladius frigate to accompany your main ship: the Baleful Edict. You can apparently send this light warship out to carry out missions that the Edict can’t reach in time. Not sure how that will work out, but at least it will make Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters a lot more interesting.
