Damien Chazelle’s 1920s-set epic Babylon hits theaters next month. A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence in early Hollywood.
But what can you really expect from the film? Writer/director Chazelle weighs in, along with the film’s stars, in the new clip below.
“Babylon is about a group of people who find themselves in early Hollywood at a time of extreme depravity and debauchery and excess,” said Chazelle. “It’s the biggest thing I’ve ever tried to do.”
(That’s a pretty impressive claim for someone whose previous work includes Whiplash and La La Land.)
“It shows a side of Hollywood beyond what you could have imagined,” adds star Tobey Maguire.
The clip also sees leads Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Diego Calva discuss their characters and their experience working on the film.
Babylon’s ensemble also includes Maguire, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, P.J. Byrne, Lukas Haas, Olivia Hamilton, Max Minghella, Rory Scovel, Katherine Waterston, Flea, Jeff Garlin, Eric Roberts, Ethan Suplee, Samara Weaving, and Olivia Wilde.
You can catch Babylon in theaters December 23.
