Netflix continues to roll out Holiday Movies this year! If you read my previous review of Falling For Christmas, you know I wasn’t a fan. Lindsay Lohan deserved better. I needed chemistry. I needed stakes and a good story! It looks like Netflix heard my plea because Christmas with you gives me everything I wanted and more.

WHAT IS CHRISTMAS WITH YOU?

Christmas with You stars Aimee Garcia (Lucifer) as a burned-out pop star named Angelina. Angelina has decided she needs to reconnect with her fans. So, she decides she wants to grant a young fan’s wish to meet her before her quinceanera. And as it turns out, this fan’s father, Miguel, is played by none other than 90s’ heartthrob Freddie Prinze Jr. (She’s All That).

SO MUCH HEART AND GREAT CHEMISTRY!

I thought this movie was full of heart and great fun. The script was less cheesy than I was expecting which makes it even better. As we know, Netflix Christmas movies lean into super cheese. They’re so bad they become good again. Christmas with You is just good. I also thought the conflict moment was honest and relatable.

If you can believe it, this is also Freddie Prinze Jr.’s first Rom-Com in over 20 years! Head Over Heels (2001) just might be my favorite. Anyways, the chemistry between Garcia and Prinze is fantastic. I believed every second of them falling in love. And the moment they kissed for the first time felt earned and genuine. Something I have felt is missing from a lot of Holiday movies this year.

Christmas with You is also full of Latinx culture. There’s even an adorable moment where they’re all making tamales together. Because, duh, if you’re gonna represent it’s gonna be with family and food. There’s also a quick moment during Angelina and her bestie’s drive up where we see a figurine of Selena hanging from the rearview mirror.

LET FREDDIE PRINZE JR AGE!

Honestly, my biggest issue is that Netflix dyed Freddie’s hair. The man lives his everyday life as a sexy silver fox. He doesn’t need the “Just For Men” treatment. His daughter in the film is in high school. The jig is up, the man’s not 25 anymore. Give the people what they want!

Otherwise, I think Christmas with You is a great addition to the Netflix Holiday film Library.

Christmas with You begins streaming on Netflix on Thursday, November 17, 2022!
