Bob Odenkirk is a very in-demand man for Hollywood these days. Between Better Call Saul and the best movie of 2021, Nobody, he’s got some suitors lined up. Now, according to our friends at The Illuminerdi, it appears he’s in line for Marvel Studios. We learned earlier this week that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was cast for the lead role of Simon Williams in Wonder Man. They’re reporting that Odenkirk is set to play Wonder Man’s manager.
Wonder Man is an interesting Marvel character as he’s an actor/stuntman in addition to being a superhero. Like She-Hulk, he has to live a daily life while also balancing his superhero life. It’s a nice blend and the series looks like it’ll pick up on some Entourage vibes. Their sources don’t have any other information as to exactly who Odenkirk would be playing, but in the Wonder Man comics, he does have an agent named Neal Saroyan, and agents and managers are pretty interchangeable to the public world. It’s a small change that wouldn’t ruffle any diehard comic book fan’s feathers. There is no real evidence that Bob Odenkirk would be playing this character though.
We’ll have to see when Wonder Man releases on Disney+. Right now it has plenty of talent attached already with Abdul-Mateen, Ben Kingsley, and producer Destin Daniel Cretton.
