Lupita Nyong’o will join the Quiet Place universe.
According to Deadline, Nyong’o is in final negotiations with Paramount to star in A Quiet Place: Day One. Michael Sarnoski will direct the film, based on an original idea by John Krasinski.
We don’t have many details about Day One yet, other than that it’s a spinoff set in the Quiet Place universe. In other words, it will likely follow entirely new characters, not the duo of Krasinski and Emily Blunt and their on-screen kids. Still, the film will see the return of the franchise’s fearsome creatures who hunt their prey – people – through sound.
Nyong’o will next appear on screen reprising her Marvel role as Nakia in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The actor previously won an Oscar for her role in 12 Years A Slave. A few of her other film credits include Jordan Peele’s Us, Little Monsters, and Maz Kanata in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
A Quiet Place: Day One will premiere March 8, 2024. A third sequel film in the Quiet Place world is also in development, with Krasinski returning to direct. That movie will arrive after Day One, some time in 2025.
