Honestly, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of SINoALICE. A mobile RPG gacha game featuring Yoko Taro (Drakengard, Nier: Automata) as the creative director? I would’ve been all for playing it. It makes it such a shame then that this game is shutting down soon. However, if it’s going out, then Taro is making absolutely sure that it will go out in a blaze of trippy glory. As befitting the guy who made Nier:Automata, of course.

One last trip down the rabbit hole for Alice here, and then that’s it.

The official Twitter account for the English edition of SINoALICE just posted an interesting Tweet regarding the game’s impending shutdown on November 10, 2022. You can read the full text of the Tweet below:

<THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING>

After clearing the entire final arc, a ending clip will be played. Once that clip is over, you will be forced logged out. After that, you can never. log. in. ever. again.

Please clear everything before you set foot.

NieR fans will understand.

To clarify this Tweet: it seems that because the Taiwanese servers for SINoALICE will soon be shutting down, Yoko Taro has one final mission arc for all players. According to Kotaku, this final mission arc will consist of 10 missions in total. 9 out of these 10 missions are available to players as of October 28, 2022. The 10th and final mission will make its grand debut on November 3, 2022, which only gives you a week to finish it. This 10th mission will pit players against a “very strong final opponent”, notable with all co-op features turned off so that friends can’t help each other even if they wanted to. Meaning that every single player will be forced to solo this final boss.

Once you beat this final boss, the story will end with an ending cutscene, and then your account will be automatically deleted. Even worse, you will only get a single chance to beat this final boss. If you fail, the story of SINoALICE will end and your account will still be deleted, only this time without even being able to see the final cutscene. Presumably, you will get a failure cutscene in its place, but even that might be cold comfort. So to everyone trying to finish this final mission: be prepared. You only get one chance at this, so use it wisely.

Honestly, it’s too bad I never heard of this game before until now. It looks interesting, even for a mobile game.
