‘1923’ Yellowstone Prequel Grows To Two Seasons

While Yellowstone fans await the premiere of Season 5 on November 13, we have some news on the upcoming spin-off/prequel series 1923. It has been announced that 1923 will now be two seasons. Each of the seasons will consist of 8-episodes and stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. According to the report from Deadline, there are already discussions underway to bring everyone back for an additional season. These extra seasons for 1923 are in contrast to the single season that 1883, the first Yellowstone prequel, received. However, a spin-off 1883: The Bass Reeves Story has been announced, leaving no shortage of upcoming Yellowstone-related content.

1923 WHAT WE KNOW

1923 is set to focus on the Dutton family’s “next two generations as they struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft; all battled beneath the cloud of Montana’s great depression, which preceded the nation by almost a decade. The show will also touch on the end of World War I, which occurred in 1918.”

The story will focus on the “construction of the sprawling Yellowstone ranch in Montana, the series is also shooting in South Africa, Tanzania, and Malta, to give a sense of the saga’s scope.”

Harrison Ford will star as Jacob Dutton, the head of Yellowstone Ranch and the brother of James Dutton. Helen Mirren will play Cara Dutton, Jacob’s wife. Joining them is an ensemble cast portraying various other members of the Dutton family. Including James Badge Dale, Robert Patrick. Brandon Sklenar, Sebastian Roché, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, and Julia Schlaepfer.

SHERIDAN-VERSE UPDATES

There is no shortage of Taylor Sheridan projects headed our way. In addition to Yellowstone season 5 and 1923, additional spin-offs are in the works. 1883 is also getting its own spin-off in the way of 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. This limited series will follow the real-life African-American lawman who became a legend of the Wild West. Actor David Oyelowo (Selma, Star Wars Rebels) will star as Bass Reeves.

Yet another Yellowstone spin-off, 6666, was announced in February 2021, but no release dates have been provided at this time. However, it was revealed earlier this year it is expected to air on the Paramount Network. It had been previously expected to be a Paramount+ exclusive.

Beyond Yellowstone, Sheridan also has Tulsa King, starring Sylvester Stallone, which will also premiere on November 13, on Paramount +
