It’s been 7 years since the last Magic Mike XXL, and 10 years since the original. However, it seems Channing Tatum is returning from his acting hiatus with a surprise 3rd installment of the franchise. Maybe he’s finally ready to say goodbye to his semi-autobiographical character once and for all in Magic Mike’s Last Dance.
The first Magic Mike film is loosely based on Tatum’s own experience as a stripper in Tampa, Florida. The film grossed more than $167 million worldwide. The film franchise also led to a LIVE stage show in Las Vegas Magic Mike Live, as well as an HBO Max competition series Finding Magic Mike.
The plot of MMLD has been kept tightly under wraps. However, Tatum told PEOPLE earlier this year that he wants this film to be the “Superbowl of stripping” movies. He also said he wanted a well-rounded female lead for the film. Perhaps that’s where Salma Hayek (Eternals) comes in.
