The Saw franchise is getting its signature character back for Saw X. Our friends at One Take News have confirmed that Tobin Bell is coming back as John Kramer/Jigsaw for the next installment of the franchise. That film has yet to be officially titled but is the tenth in the franchise. It releases in theaters on October 27th, 2023.
Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter, is directing the upcoming film for Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures. This news brings some nostalgia back to the franchise that has lost its way a bit in some of the latter sequels. They’ve spun the series off with Spiral: From The Book of Saw, but this brings the series back to its roots. Saw franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules had this to say:
What a thrill to be reuniting with Tobin. His performance as John Kramer is part of the magic that made this franchise a phenomenon and his character is an active part of this film.
There are no plot details currently, but Bell’s return means that there’ll be at least some horrific traps, stunts, and other games for people to play.
Saw X goes into production this month and releases on October 27th, 2023.
