Get ready to dive under the sea with Halle Bailey. The first poster for Disney’s live-action Little Mermaid is here!
The upcoming feature reimagines Disney’s Oscar-winning animated classic, and sees Bailey take on the role of Ariel. Catch a glimpse of Bailey’s Ariel in the new poster below.
In The Little Mermaid, Ariel, the youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
In addition to Bailey, the film also stars Tony award winner Daveed Diggsas the voice of Sebastian; Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder; Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle; Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric; Art Malik as Sir Grimsby; Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina; Oscar winner Javier Bardem as King Triton; and two-time Academy Award nominee Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.
The Little Mermaid comes from Oscar-nominated director Rob Marshall and Oscar-nominated writer David Magee. Disney veteran and award-winning composer Alan Menken created the music, with Lin-Manuel Miranda providing additional lyrics for the live-action film.
The Little Mermaid premieres exclusively in theaters May 26, 2023.
