Get ready to revisit Planet of the Apes. 20th Century Studios’ next feature in the popular franchise revealed new details today.
The movie will be titled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and will pick up years after the events of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017). Deadline also announced that Freya Allan of The Witcher will star in the film. Allan joins Owen Teague, who will play the lead ape in the movie. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes plans to premiere in 2024.

With Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes we are privileged to continue the series’ tradition of imaginative, thought-provoking cinema, and can’t wait to share Wes’ extraordinary vision for this new chapter with audiences in 2024,” said Steve Asbell, President of 20th Century Studios.
20th Century also shared a first look image of the film today, which you can see below.
The film’s screenplay comes from Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver and Patrick Aison. Wes Ball directs.
The first film in the Planet of the Apes series was released by 20th Century Fox in 1968, based on a novel by Pierre Boulle. The movie’s success lead to a franchise of four additional theatrical installments, as well as two TV series, a 2001 remake from Tim Burton, and a 2011 reboot with two of its own sequel films. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will mark the fourth film in the rebooted franchise.
