Well, it seems that we finally get some more details about the upcoming Nier: Automata anime adaptation. All thanks to Aniplex Online Fest 2022. Don’t believe me? Then you can check out those details for yourself below in a just over 8 minute long video promoting the anime:
Nier: Automata Anime Adaptation ~ Details
Aniplex recently posted this video promoting the anime adaptation of Nier: Automata on their official YouTube channel as part of their Aniplex Online Fest for 2022. This promotional video above also gives us quite a few details on the upcoming anime. First of all: we have the title. Apparently, this anime will be called Nier: Automata Ver1.1a. With a title like that, you can expect that it might be a bit different from the game.
Secondly, characters PVs for the anime will start releasing in October 2022. They have no details for us as to what these character PVs will entail. Only that they will release them “in sequence”. What this means will be entirely up to when we finally see them. We can likely expect to see character PVs for main characters 2B and 9S, but everyone else (including A2) will be up in the air.
Thirdly and lastly, we even have a release window for this anime. Nier: Automata Ver1.1a will premiere sometime in January 2023. Nothing more specific than that for obvious reasons, but it’s a fairly specific timeframe nonetheless. Undoubtedly, we’ll get a more specific release date as we get closer to January of next year. Tune back in to THS later to find out when we do.
Nier: Automata Ver1.1a ~ More Details
Now that we have the title and release details for Nier: Automata Ver1.1a out of the way, let’s get to the nitty-gritty of the video. Most of the interesting details come from the director of the original game Yoko Taro and the director of the anime adaptation Ryouji Masamune. Both of them worked together to come up with the anime’s screenplay, which brings up to the most interesting point: the anime will differ from the plot of the original game.
Honestly though, this isn’t much of a surprise. To say that the story of Nier: Automata is fragmented would’ve been the understatement of the century. The game basically requires you to play it through multiple times just to get the full story. While that kind of a format makes for a very interesting game, trying to directly adapt that into an anime would be a bit of a nightmare. So it makes sense why they would adjust the story for the anime adaptation.
Fortunately, with the game’s original director working on the screenplay, the story of Nier: Automata Ver1.1a should still remain pretty faithful to the original game. So fans needn’t worry, and can just focus on the hype surrounding the anime. Starting with the upcoming character PVs.
