It looks like EDENS ZERO is developing a cult following among shonen fans. How else do you explain their announcement of their upcoming season 2? Don’t believe me? Then you can check out the trailer for yourself below:
A Cult Following IN SPACE?!
AniTV+ just posted that PV trailer for EDENS ZERO season 2 above on YouTube. Said PV trailer shows the crew of the titular spaceship traveling and exploring through a rather vibrant science fantasy universe, which includes a brightly lit futuristic city and an entire space filled with cherry blossom petals in the mix. As expected of a shonen anime though, season 2 will apparently feature quite a bit of combat. In this anime though, most of the combat seems to revolve around duels between space-faring warships. However, since this is a shonen anime, expect people vs. people combat as well. Mostly because just purely ship vs. ship combat is just a tad too impersonal for the average shonen anime.
That’s not all though. The end of the PV trailer gives us a release date for when we’ll get to see this anime. Apparently. EDENS ZERO season 2 will make its debut sometime in April 2023. They don’t give any more specific release dates than that at the moment, so this is the best we got for now. Not only that, but this release date is for the anime’s Japanese premiere. There’s no official word yet as to who will license the anime for NA streaming. The only thing we have to go on, for now, is that Netflix is streaming season 1, so they’ll almost certainly acquire the rights for season 2. Tune back into THS later when we get official confirmation of any of this.
EDENS ZERO Season 2: Details
EDENS ZERO season 2 is the 2nd season of the anime series, which is itself the anime adaptation of the science fantasy adventure manga of the same name by Hiro Mashima (Rave Master, Fairy Tail, Monster Hunter Orage). J.C.Staff (Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, A Certain Magical Index, One-Punch Man season 2) is the animation studio behind season 2, as they were for season 1. Toshinori Watanabe will be the director for season 2, with Shinji Ishihira as chief director. Mitsutaka Hirota returns as the writer, with Yoshihisa Hirano returning as the composer for the music. Lastly, Netflix licensed season 1 for streaming, but it’s not official yet if they’re doing so for season 2.
As for what EDENS ZERO is about? Well, Netflix has an official synopsis for season 1 on their streaming service. Check it out below:
