Well, it appears that we’ll finally get to see the rather oddly titled Goodbye, Don Glees! anime film in theaters. All thanks to GKIDS.
Welcome, Don Glees! (To NA)
GKIDS is proud to announce that they will be bringing Goodbye, Don Glees! to NA theaters. This will be the first time this anime film will be officially available for NA viewings since this film first premiered in Japan back on February 18, 2022. Fortunately, you won’t have to wait long to watch this anime film.
Goodbye, Don Glees! will make its NA theatrical debut on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. However, this will be for the Japanese audio with English subtitles version. If you want to watch the English dub version, then you’re going to have to wait a bit for Saturday, September 18, 2022. The English sub version will then make one last reappearance on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 before the anime film is gone from theaters, and you will have to wait for a home media release or for a streaming service to pick it up. So if you want to watch this anime film now, then you might want to take this opportunity.
You can purchase tickets for Goodbye, Don Glees! either from GKIDS or from the anime film’s official website.
Goodbye, Don Glees!: Details

The aforementioned Atsuko Ishizuka is both director and screenwriter, with Kashiko Kimura as editor, and Yoshiki Fujisawa as the composer. As for what Goodbye, Don Glees! is about? Well, GKIDS has an official synopsis for this anime film for us. Check it out below:
“Teen misfits Roma, Toto, and Drop call themselves the “Don Glees,” an informal name for their backyard adventures. One day, when the trio gets blamed for a nearby forest fire, they set off into the woods to prove their innocence. As disaster strikes their expedition, tensions flare between the friends as they realize that growing up has taken them on wildly different paths in life.
Director Atsuko Ishizuka follows up her critically acclaimed series A Place Further Than the Universe with her first original feature film. With luminescent animation and lush backdrops, Goodbye, Don Glees! is a tender coming-of-age story about the fearlessness of being young and the bittersweet journey of self-discovery.”
