When it comes to streaming series that kick ass, there is none that brings you the high-flying action and trips down memory lane like Netflix’s Cobra Kai. Fans of this series already know what I am talking about and are looking forward to the Cobra Kai season 5 release on September 9, 2022.
Starring Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso), William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence), Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry Silver), Courtney Henggeler (Amanda LaRusso), Yuji Okumoto (Chozen Toguchi), Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene), Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso), Jacob Bertrand (Hawk), Gianni Decenzo (Demetri), Vanessa Rubio (Carmen), Peyton List (Tory) and Martin Kove (John Kreese); Cobra Kai once again mixes the old and the new for some high flying karate action. Thanks to our friends over at Netflix I was able to watch season 5 early, and once again all I could say when it was over was “WOW”! Here is my non-spoiler review of Cobra Kai Season 5.
Cobra Kai Season 5 Review
Those that have read my reviews know that I hate spoilers, so once again I will make this review of Cobra Kai season 5 as spoiler free as possible. Season 4 left us on the edge of our seats with Cobra Kai’s defeat over Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang (by cheating) and John Kress in Jail it looked as if there will be no stopping Terry Silver from taking complete control of Cobra Kai. Even though it is the end of Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang, season 5 ramps up the action and memories by not only seeing the hate grow between rivalries but by once again tying in the past to make all of this karate action ride more complete.
Those that read my season 4 review may remember that I said there was a lot less fighting during that season. Well, for those that may not have been happy with that get ready, because if you want some great over-the-top action you are going to get it this season. The best thing about this is that the fighting does not take away from the story at all.
Yes, I am one that loves the over-the-top fighting but that is not the only thing that makes this series so good. Once again you are not sure who you can trust for this season and that is another thing that will leave you on the edge of your seat until the end. Also, the writers do an amazing job once again bringing acquaintances from Daniel’s past into the story. Some you have already seen and some will make you say no way!
My Final Thoughts
I am not going to beat around the bonsai tree, Cobra Kai season 5 is the best season of them all. Like I said earlier, it is not just because of the over-the-top karate action, but also because of the curveballs the writers throw at you and the nostalgia tie-ins. This season kept me on the edge of my seat and I can’t tell you how many times I said “OH SH!%”!
You can say creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg put all of their eggs in one basket to bring us this amazing season without breaking any while doing so. My only complaint about this season is not knowing if this is it, or if we are going to get more (I hope for one more). When you watch you will see why I feel this way. Cobra Kai season 5 gets a perfect score from me. You will want to binge this whole season.
