I had no idea that Trick ‘r Treat didn’t have a theatrical release. The little horror movie that could, buoyed by Spirit Halloween and word of mouth, is finally getting a long-deserved theatrical release thanks to Regal. Michael Dougherty‘s 2007 anthology horror film has reached cult classic status thanks to the above reasons and was originally delivered straight to video in 2009. Regal Cinemas is bringing horror classics like Scream 2, The Lost Boys, and Halloween to the big screen this October. Warner Bros. tweeted the following about Trick ‘r Treat getting a theatrical release.
Trick ‘r Treat is playing at Regal Cinemas on October 6th, 2022. Check out more information on the release on their website!
The iconic Sam comes from this movie, and while he might not have been a huge icon when he started, now, you can’t go to a Spirit Halloween or other Horror-related functions without seeing the little man in orange pajamas and a sack mask. We’ve had on-again/off-again talks about a sequel, but this could be the right step to getting one made.
For those who have never seen Trick ‘r Treat, here’s the synopsis.
Five interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband; and a mean old man meets his match with a demonic, supernatural trick-or-treater.
