Great news for Studio Ghibli fans – a new deal means you can rent your favorite movies online for the first time ever.
According to Variety, GKIDS, the distributor responsible for the Studio Ghibli catalog, has partnered with major digital media rental platforms to distribute Ghibli films to North American audiences. The deal includes Studio Ghibli classics like Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and My Neighbor Totoro.
In total, 22 animated films will be available to rent on platforms like Apple TV, Amazon VOD, Vudu, and Google Play. All will be made available in HD, and priced at $4.99 per rental. Most features will be offered in the original Japanese as well as their English dub versions.
