Some Goblin Slayer fans might’ve heard a short time ago that the mangaka, Kumo Kagyu, is writing a new manga. Well, I’m not one of them, so this is news to me. Even more so now that Kagyu has finally announced what they’re calling it, and what it’s actually about.
Kumo Kagyu’s Next Big Hit?
Square Enix (via Manga Mogura RE) has just announced on Twitter the title of Kumo Kagyu’s latest upcoming manga, along with a bit of teaser art for it. As you can see above, their new manga has the title Moscow 2160. You can also see in that teaser art that the protagonist is apparently continuing the trend of Kagyu liking masked protagonists. Except for this time, this protagonist carries not a sword, but what appears to be a PPSh-41 submachine gun. This definitely suggests that Kagyu will be going for a lot of gunplay in this new manga.
With good reason as well, given that this announcement comes with a very short glimpse into the plot of Moscow 2160. That Tweet has the closest thing we have to a synopsis in the opening paragraph. Check it out below:
“”Goblin Slayer” creator Kumo Kagyu starts a new dystopian cold war manga series in Russia titled “Moscow 2160″ in Big Gangan soon”
I’m already imagining running gun battles in a dystopian Moscow in the future. I have no idea who that woman in the background is, but given Kumo Kagyu and their penchant for very dark stories, I’m pretty sure terrible things are going to happen to her. Fortunately, Noboru Kannatsuki will be returning for the character design, with new artist Sekine Koutarou doing the art in general. Thus, we can expect this new manga to at least look like Goblin Slayer when we get to see it. Unfortunately, isn’t likely to be soon, since this announcement didn’t come with a release window. That’s something we’re going to have to wait for later. Tune back into THS to find out when we do.

As for what Goblin Slayer is about? Well, Crunchyroll has an official synopsis on the anime’s page. Check it out below:
“”I’m not saving the world. I just kill goblins.”
Rumor has it that, in a certain guild in the middle of nowhere, there is an extraordinary man who has climbed all the way to the Silver rank just by killing goblins. At the same guild, a priestess who’s just become a new adventurer has formed her first party… and the man who ends up rescuing that party when they get into trouble is none other than the Goblin Slayer.”
You can watch all episodes of Goblin Slayer on Crunchyroll or Funimation.
