Goodnight Mommy was one of my FAVORITE Foreign Horror films of 2014. So, I’m honestly surprised it has taken 8 years for the US to do their own version. Don’t we love remaking great ideas?

WHAT IS GOODNIGHT MOMMY?

Based on an Austrian Psychological Horror film of the same name, we see twin brothers arrive at their mother’s country home. While there, they discover their mother’s face covered in bandages. She, of course, explains that she had cosmetic surgery, but the boys are not so sure. Their mother is acting out of character, setting new house rules, smoking, and so much more. So, the twins don’t think that the woman under the bandages is their mother at all!

The original film currently has a rating of 85% with a rating average of 7.35/10 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Then, Directing the film is Matt Sobel (Brand New Cherry Flavor), and is adapted by Kyle Warren.

When twin brothers (Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti) arrive at their mother’s (Naomi Watts) country home to discover her face covered in bandages—the result, she explains, of recent cosmetic surgery—they immediately sense that something doesn’t add up. She sets strange new house rules, smokes in her bathroom, and secretly rips up a drawing they gave her. Things their loving mother would never do. As her behavior grows increasingly bizarre and erratic, a horrifying thought takes root in the boys’ minds. The sinking suspicion that the woman beneath the gauze, who’s making their food and sleeping in the next room, isn’t their mother at all.
