Another star joined the cast of Black Mirror season 6. Deadline reports Rory Culkin will appear in the sci-fi anthology series’ upcoming season on Netflix.
Culkin joins a number of previously revealed stars, including Zazie Beetz, Paapa Essiedu, Josh Hartnett, Aaron Paul, Kate Mara, Danny Ramirez, Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton, and Anjana Vasan. However, much like the earlier casting announcements, Culkin’s actual role in the series remains a mystery. Netflix is keeping plot and character details for the next installment of Black Mirror under wraps.
Culkin recently starred opposite Andrew Garfield in FX’s Under the Banner of Heaven. He also previously teamed with Netflix for Halston.
Black Mirror last dropped new episodes on Netflix back in 2019. The show’s three-year hiatus was caused – at least in part – by current events. Series creator Charlie Booker said he needed to take a break from the heavy nature of the show.
“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those. I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh,” Booker told Radio Times.
The fifth season of Black Mirror only included three episodes. However, the upcoming sixth season is expected to include more than three episodes. (Netflix has yet to verify the official episode count.)
