Everything’s coming up Quinta. The creator and star of the hit series Abbott Elementary, Quinta Brunson, just signed a multiyear deal with Warner Bros. Television.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the exclusive agreement will make WBTV Brunson’s studio home for any new television projects. It also solidifies that Brunson will continue to serve as executive producer, writer, and star of Abbott Elementary.
The WB agreement marks Brunson’s first studio deal. It’s the latest in her long line of successes, which includes fan and critical praise for Abbott Elementary, as well as three personal Emmy nominations for the series.
“I’m excited to expand my long-running creative partnership with Warner Bros,” Brunson said. “With Abbott as our anchor, I look forward to what we’ll create next.”
Though the success of Abbott solidified Brunson’s recent relationship with WB, she has worked with the studio for several years, previously recurring on iZombie. As far back as 2018, Brunson was cast in the WBTV pilot The End of the World as We Know It for The CW, from executive producers/writers Justin Halpern & Patrick Schumacker. The trio later reteamed for Abbott Elementary. (Halpern and Schumacker also currently head the animated Harley Quinn series for WBTV.)
“Quinta Brunson is a tour de force and a powerhouse talent, and we are beyond thrilled to be continuing our partnership with her through this new overall deal,” said WBTV chairman Channing Dungey. “What Quinta and her Abbott Elementary team have achieved in the first season is just extraordinary. We cannot wait for season two, and to explore many future projects with her in the coming years. I’m so grateful that Quinta is part of our WBTV family, and I look forward to many more years of successful collaboration.”
Abbott Elementary returns for season 2 on ABC Wednesday, September 21.
