Bad news: Ranking of Kings is going to have a sequel season anytime soon, it seems. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean that we won’t have a sequel period. Not if this anime special has anything to say about it.
A Sequel of Sorts?
The official Twitter account of Ranking of Kings just revealed an upcoming new anime special episode. Apparently, this anime special will be called The Treasure Chest of Courage. You can see in the key art above that Bojji and Kage are indeed opening a treasure chest. We can’t tell what’s actually in the chest from this angle. However, judging from the light emanating from it, the contents of the chest appear to be very shiny indeed.
As for when we’ll actually get to see this anime special episode, that’s a bit less vague than what it’s actually about. According to that Twitter announcement, we’ll get to see Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage sometime next year in 2023. They don’t make the release window any more specific than that though. That’s something we’ll have to wait for them to reveal at a later date. Tune in later to get that information when we do.

“How prosperous your nation is, how many powerful warriors it boasts, and how heroic and strong its king is. These are the criteria that factor into the system known as the Ranking of Kings. The main character, Bojji, was born the first prince of the kingdom ruled by King Bossu, who is ranked number seven. But Bojji was born unable to hear and is so powerless that he can’t even swing a sword. In consequence, his own retainers and the public, look down upon him as completely unfit to be king. It is then that Bojji finds his first friend, Kage, and Bojji’s life takes a dramatic turn…”
