Another day, another mysterious Madame Web casting. The latest actor to join Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man Universe film is Zosia Mamet.
Madame Web will tell the origin story of the title character, a woman with powerful psychic abilities that allow her to see across the spider-world. Mamet joins previously announced lead Dakota Johnson; as well as Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, and Adam Scott.
Like the majority of the cast announced for the film, details about Mamet’s character and specific role in the film remain unknown.
Madame Web draws from the Marvel comics character created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr. The film is expected to slot in with the others in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, including Venom, Morbius, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter film.
Mamet’s recent role on HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant with Kaley Cuoco has brought her critical praise; the series landed a SAG Award nomination for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Prior to Mamet’s work on The Flight Attendant, she had a long-running role on HBO’s award-winning series Girls.
Sony also recently announced it would delay the release of Madame Web from July to October 2023.
