If you thought Horizon Forbidden West couldn’t get any more hype, then Dark Horse is here to prove you all wrong. Especially now that they’re releasing a little Aloy figurine to grace your tabletop.

A Little Aloy for Your Tabletop

Is it just me, or is there something…off about Aloy’s face here?

Dark Horse and Guerilla Games are proud to announce this Horizon Forbidden West Aloy PVC Figure. This is a 1/8 scale figurine of Aloy all dressed up, armed with her iconic spear and bow, and ready for her adventures in the Forbidden West; just like on the game cover art…more or less. In fact, this figurine is apparently modeled after the now sold-out 1/6 scale Aloy figure from Dark Horse Direct, with PureArts responsible for producing this figurine.

Fortunately, this Horizon Forbidden West Aloy PVC Figure is much cheaper to compensate. This 1/6 figurine will sell for a retail price of $99.99. You can preorder it right now from Dark Horse Comics. Note that Dark Horse gives conflicting release dates for this figurine. The Dark Horse Blog gives a release date of November 16, 2022; while Dark Horse Comics gives a release date of December 14, 2022. I’m honestly not sure what’s going on here with Dark Horse. Maybe they’ll give us clarification on the release date at a later date.

Horizon Forbidden West Aloy PVC Figure: Opinion

No matter what angle you look at this figurine at, there’s definitely something off about it.

Normally, as a Horizon Forbidden West fan, a figurine of Aloy would be pretty exciting news for me. However, no matter what angle you look at this Horizon Forbidden West Aloy PVC Figure, there’s just something off about it. This 1/8 figurine overall looks like it’s in slightly less detail compared to the 1/6 figurine. The 1/6 figurine is so highly detailed that it looks like someone took Aloy right from a screenshot of the game, and captured it in figurine form. This 1/8 figurine looks like a cheap plastic copy of that.

The detail is especially obvious around the face. Not only is the shape of Aloy’s face just slightly off (a bit rounder than it should be), but the skin tone appears to be slightly off as well. This Horizon Forbidden West Aloy PVC Figure doesn’t look like natural skin color the way the 1/6 figurine did. It looks distinctly…plastic, like a Barbie doll.

My advice based on these images is to wait for the 1/6 scale figurine to go back on sale someday. This Horizon Forbidden West Aloy PVC Figure just looks like a cheap plastic imitation of that. Only get it if you’re unwilling to spend $399.99 on the 1/6 scale figurine.
