As it turns out, it won’t be long until we can see what Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is all about in anime Night City. Don’t believe me? Then check out the brand new trailer Netflix just dropped below, and see for yourself:

Welcome to Night City: The Anime Version

Man, Studio Trigger doesn’t mess around when they say they’re adapting a video game into an anime.

Cyberpunk 2077‘s official YouTube channel just uploaded this new official trailer for the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. This trailer shows that when Studio Trigger say that they’re adapting a video game into an anime, they mean it. We actually see that David, the main character of this anime, actually sees the world in the game’s UI interface when we see the world from his perspective. Not only that, but we see actual locations from the game being recreated in very high quality anime form. This includes the iconic Arasaka Tower: the highest building in the game. It seems that Studio Trigger is being very faithful indeed in capturing CD Projekt Red’s cyberpunk world.

It’s not just the setting that this Cyberpunk: Edgerunners trailer is showing off though. It also introduces us to the main cast of this anime. There’s the aforementioned David as our main character, but there’s also big guy Maine, big girl Dorio, Maelstrom-esque voice changer fan Kiwi, the slightly psycho Pilar, the tiny and very angry Rebecca, and the veteran Edgerunner Lucy (who also appears to be David’s love interest). Together, they form one heck of a team against what appears to be the villain of this show. Said villain is a well-dressed businessman with 3 eyes on one side of his face. We don’t get his name, but his appearance screams “Villain!”. We’ll have to see how this all plays out when this anime makes its debut on Netflix. In the meantime, you can enjoy more details and the new key art below.

As for what Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is about? Well, that official trailer on YouTube does have a synopsis in the video description. Check it out below:

“The series tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in Night City — a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will premiere only on Netflix sometime in September 2022.
