It’s not every day that you see some news involving Max Headroom. The popular 1980s series is making a comeback at AMC. Deadline is reporting that Matt Frewer is set to reprise his role as Max Headroom in a new series from AMC and Elijah Wood/Daniel Noah‘s production company SpectreVision. Halt and Catch Fire co-creator Christopher Cantwell is writing the adaptation and will serve as Showrunner on the series.
It might’ve been ahead of its time in the ’80s, but Max Headroom is hugely influential on the TV and movies we enjoy today. The “computer-generated” TV host turned into an instant pop-culture phenomenon. Max starred in New Coke ads, hosted music videos, and got his own primetime TV series on ABC for two seasons.
We’ll have to see how this one turns out, but the world might need some more Max Headroom.
