It seems that the upcoming MultiVersus game is adding a trio of new character to their playable roster: LeBron James, and Rick and Morty from their titular show. Strangely enough, there’s as trailer for the former, but not the latter. Check it out below:

Combat Basketballing?

Never thought I’d see a real life character appear in a Super Smash Bros. style game.

MultiVersus just released a character reveal trailer for LeBron James on YouTube. Why LeBron James, you might ask? Well, if you recall, the NBA star recently appeared in the Space Jam sequel film: Space Jam: A New Legacy. Since the game has Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment as its publisher, you can see why they would want LeBron James as a playable character in it. That, and the money from adding a NBA star to the game, I suspect.

These 2, on the other hand, fit right in.

Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith from their titular Rick and Morty series, on the other hand, is much more of an obvious choice for MultiVersus. With both of them from a very popular Cartoon Network series, they are likely going to be pretty popular picks for players. Unfortunately, there’s no character reveal trailer for them like there was for LeBron James. A bit baffling, but that’s the works.

Even more unfortunately though, it will be a while before you can play as either Rick or Morty. LeBron James will be in MultiVersus on July 26, 2022; right when the open beta is launching. Morty thought will only appear during Season 1 on August 9, 2022. While Rick will apparently also appear during Season 1, he doesn’t have an exact release date. We’ll just have to wait for either Player First Games or Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to give us that info later.

The official canonization of Ultra Instinct Shaggy, I see.

MultiVersus is an upcoming free to play crossover platform fighting game (basically a Super Smash Bros. clone) developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Tony Huynh is the director, with the game itself running on Unreal Engine 4, and that’s unfortunately it as far as we know about the production so far. The game will be for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

As for what MultiVersus is about? Well, the video description in the LeBron James reveal trailer does give us a synopsis of the game. Check it out below:
