Jeff Goldblum is joining the Greek pantheon. The actor will play Zeus in Netflix’s upcoming mythology series Kaos.
Goldblum replaces Hugh Grant in the role. Grant ultimately had to leave the project due to date availability and scheduling conflicts.
Netflix describes Kaos as “a bold, darkly comic contemporary take on Greek mythology” from creator-writer Charlie Covell. Goldblum’s King of the Gods is said to be seemingly all-powerful, yet desperately insecure and vengeful… Until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Neurosis then sets in, setting him off on a dangerous, paranoid path. Zeus soon becomes convinced his fall is coming – and starts to see signs of it everywhere.
Probably not good news for anyone and everyone who needs to cross his path.
Goldblum joins an ensemble cast that also includes Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis, David Thewlis, Killian Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Misia Butler, Leila Farzad, Nabhaan Rizwan, Rakie Ayola, and Stanley Townsend.
Goldblum recently reprised his Jurassic Park role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in the feature Jurassic World: Dominion. He also recently appeared in the TV series Search Party, and reprised his Thor: Ragnarok role in an episode of Marvel’s What If…?.
“We are delighted to have such a phenomenal cast and team delivering Charlie Covell’s unique, contemporary vision of a mythical world,” said Sophie Klein, who serves as Director of UK Series at Netflix. “Joyful and dark, Kaos will entertain, amuse and move you all at once.”
Production on the eight-episode series will begin this summer.
