Have you missed Netflix’s Black Mirror? (Or is the dystopia that is reality appeasing your desire for dark sci-fi?)
The popular series looks to be gearing up for season 6. According to Variety, a ton of big names have lined up roles in the anthology series. These stars include Zazie Beetz, Paapa Essiedu, Josh Hartnett, Aaron Paul, Kate Mara, Danny Ramirez, Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton, and Anjana Vasan.
Details about season 6’s plots and episode counts are being kept under wraps. However, Variety reports this casting reflects three episodes, and the season will have more episodes with additional casting to come. (Season 5 of Black Mirror only included three installments; however, it looks like the episode count will increase again for season 6.)
Black Mirror season 5 premiered in summer 2019, meaning fans have already undergone a three-year hiatus between new episodes. Series creator Charlie Booker said he needed to take a break from the heavy nature of the show
“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those. I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh,” Booker told Radio Times.
However, with casting now underway, it appears production on the series either has resumed or will resume soon.
