Another actor just joined Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The latest actor named for the mysterious Madame Web project is Mike Epps.
Sony’s Madame Web will tell the origin story of the title character, a woman with powerful psychic abilities that allow her to see across the spider-world. Epps joins previously announced lead Dakota Johnson; as well as Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, and Tahar Rahim.
And if you noticed a pattern with all these Madame Web casting announcements… Yes, it’s about to continue. Much like the rest of the announced cast, we don’t have any word on who Epps will play in the film.
Madame Web draws from the Marvel comics character created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr. The film is expected to slot in with the others in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, including Venom, Morbius, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter film.
Epps executive produces and stars in the Netflix comedy series The Upshaws. His previous feature credits include Dolemite Is My Name, Troop Zero, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, and Girls Trip. Epps will also soon appear in the Apple TV+ limited series Lady in the Lake with Natalie Portman.
Madame Web will release in theaters July 7, 2023.
