Detective Benoit Blanc gets a lot of attention. But Rian Johnson also has another murder mystery project in the works: Poker Face.
Johnson serves as the creator, writer, and director of the series, which will air on Peacock. The streamer previously announced Natasha Lyonne would star. Today, Variety revealed an additional five cast members. Joining Lyonne are Tim Meadows (SNL, The Goldbergs), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place, She-Hulk), Nicholas Cirillo (Outer Banks), Audrey Corsa (All Rise), and Niall Cunningham (And Just Like That).
Previously announced cast members include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Benjamin Bratt, Stephanie Hsu, and David Castañeda.
Specifics about Poker Face are being kept under wraps. However, it appears to have a procedural format where Lyonne’s character will work to solve a different murder in each episode. Peacock ordered a 10-episode first season back in March.
“Rian Johnson’s distinct sensibility and talent for telling edge-of-your-seat mysteries is a massive gift for Peacock, and we can’t wait for audiences to delve into each case,” said Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content at NBCUniversal when the series was announced. “Paired with the acting genius of Natasha Lyonne, this series will be entertaining and addictive.”
Both Johnson and Lyonne serve as executive producers on the series. Nora and Lilla Zuckerman serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. Additional executive producers include Maya Rudolph and Danielle Renfrew Behrens of Animal Pictures, and Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue of T-Street.
