Every swashbuckling adventurer finds themselves needing to retire one day. For Puss in Boots, that day comes sooner than expected.
After dying (yet again), Puss realizes he’s worn out his nine lives. Relegated to a lap cat and renamed Pickles, he settles in for a life of boredom and monotony.
But he’s Puss in Boots, so that doesn’t last long.

In The Last Wish, Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for peril and disregard for safety have taken their toll. Puss has burned through eight of his nine lives, though he lost count along the way. Getting those lives back will send Puss in Boots on his grandest quest yet: an epic journey into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star and restore his lost lives. But with only one life left, Puss will have to humble himself and ask for help from his former partner and nemesis: the captivating Kitty Soft Paws, as well as a ratty, chatty, relentlessly cheerful mutt, Perro. Together, our trio of heroes will have to stay one step ahead of Goldilocks and the Three Bears Crime Family, “Big” Jack Horner, and terrifying bounty hunter, The Big Bad Wolf.
The Last Wish marks the third solo feature film for Puss in Boots, whose character DreamWorks introduced in the Shrek franchise. Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas returns to voice our action-loving feline. The voice cast also includes Salma Hayek, Harvey Guillén, Florence Pugh, John Mulaney, Wagner Moura, Olivia Colman, Ray Winstone, Samson Kayo, Anthony Mendez, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish comes from director Joel Crawford. It will premiere in theaters December 21.
