The dinosaurs are back, and they’re not just in a theme park anymore! The third film in the Jurassic World trilogy is now in theaters, and we sat down with stars DeWanda Wise and Mamoudou Athie to go behind-the-scenes of Jurassic World: Dominion.
The new film brings back Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, but also features legacy cast members from the original 1993 Jurassic Park film. Athie said he has always been a fan of the franchise.
“I saw it when I was a kid, and I loved it,” he said.
Wise said she’s a fan of dinosaur media too… but somehow missed the Jurassic Park movies until recently.
“My earliest memory was watching [Jurassic Park] in 2019 when I read the script for this one,” admitted Wise.
Still, she was excited to join the franchise, and started prepping for her role early.
“I was training for over a year, ’cause I was like, ‘You not gone get me, action movie. You’re not gonna have me out here, running crazy!’” Wise joked.
“I was not training for a year,” Athie chimed in. “I was chilling!”
Jurassic World: Dominion officially concludes the trilogy. But if the dinosaurs did return in the future for a big crossover event, what other franchise should they cross over with?
“It’s Universal, so it would have to be The Fast and the Furious,” answered Wise immediately, leaving Athie in a fit of laughter.
“What else can they do? They’ve already been to space!” clarified Wise, but this only seemed to break her co-star further.
“What are you talking about?” asked Athie, who then has the highlights of F9 explained to him. (Really, dinosaurs would hardly even seem like that much of a leap for the Fast franchise at this point.)
Fully thrown by the thoughts of Vin Diesel racing a T-Rex and Tyrese in outer space, Athie insisted, “You can’t just tell me that and expect me to keep it moving!”
