Ryusui Nanami is about to get his own anime special starring himself in Dr. Stone: Ryusui. To hype it up, they’ve released a brand new PV trailer for it. Check it out below:

Ryusui’s Flashy Debut!

His greed knows no bounds.

This new PV trailer for Dr. Stone: Ryusui recently made its debut on YouTube. As you might guess from the title, this anime special focuses on Ryusui Nanami: the young head of the fictional megacorporation Nanami Corp.. As you can see from the trailer, he’s quite the character. He reminds me of Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist, in that they’re both obsessed with worldly possessions. However, like with Greed, that titular sin isn’t a bad trait. On the contrary, these characters show that the right amount of greed can be positive character traits.

Not only that, but the PV trailer even gives us a premiere date for us to look forward to. Dr. Stone: Ryusui will make its debut on July 10, 2022. This anime special will make its debut on Tokyo MX, BS11, KBS, and other Japanese TV channels. Unfortunately, there is no official word on whether any streaming service will simulcast this anime special in NA. I speculate that Crunchyroll will likely pick this anime special up for streaming, since they’re already streaming seasons 1 and 2 of the original anime, but that’s just speculation at this point. Take it with a grain of salt until we hear from any official sources. In the meantime, you can check out the key art from Shonen Jump News on Twitter below, in addition to more details on this anime special.

For a stone age world, a hot air balloon truly is the pinnacle of flight.

Dr. Stone: Ryusui is an anime TV special spinoff to the Dr. Stone anime, which is itself the anime adaptation of the manga of the same name by writer Richiro Inagaki (Eyeshield 21) and artist Boichi (Sun-Ken Rock, Trigun: The Lost Plant, One Piece episode A). TMS Entertainment (Lupin the Third, Detective Conan, Magic Knight Rayearth) remains the animation studio behind this TV special. Shūhei Matsushita is the new director this time around, with Yuichiro Kido returning as the writer.

As for what Dr. Stone as a whole is about? Well, Crunchryoll has an official synopsis for the anime that explains it better than I can do. Check it out below:

“Several thousand years after a mysterious phenomenon that turns all of humanity to stone, the extraordinarily intelligent, science-driven boy, Senku Ishigami, awakens. Facing a world of stone and the total collapse of civilization, Senku makes up his mind to use science to rebuild the world. Starting with his super strong childhood friend Taiju Oki, who awakened at the same time, they will begin to rebuild civilization from nothing… Depicting two million years of scientific history from the Stone Age to present day, the unprecedented crafting adventure story is about to begin!”

You can watch Dr. Stone on Crunchyroll or Funimation.
