In breaking news from The Hollywood Reporter, pop superstar/actress is in negotiations to be cast as Harley Quinn in the upcoming Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à deux

JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX

The title of the project is a reference to a medical condition for an identical or similar mental disorder that affects two or more individuals – typically in the same family. However, it seems this time the disorder will not only affect Arthur Fleck but Dr. Harleen Quinzel.

Last week, Phillips revealed on social media the title of the new Joker sequel project: Joker: Folie à Deux. The title references a medical cognition for an identical or similar mental disorder that affects two or more individuals – typically in the same family. However, it seems this time the disorder will not only affect Arthur Fleck but Dr. Harleen Quinzel.

WHO IS HARLEY QUINN?

Dr. Harleen Quinzel is a former psychiatrist at Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum. She fell in love with the joker during her internship, changing her name to Harley Quinn beginning her abusive on/off-again relationship with the Joker while ravaging Gotham City together.

Most recently, Margot Robbie portrayed our loud-mouthed, Brooklynite in Suicide Squad, as well as Birds of Prey. However, as we know, Joker’s version of Harley will not live in the same universe because neither does Arthur.

LADY GAGA AS HARLEY QUINN?

In a strange way, Lady Gaga playing some version of Harley Quinn makes sense – which is odd for me to say. While I’m a fan of her music, I don’t love her acting, which could just be me thing. I can’t separate her from the characters she’s playing no matter how much method acting she does.

But in this world, I can see it working the same way it did in A Star is Born – another project she and Phillips worked on together. In my mind, Arthur and Harleen will share a Folie à Deux putting them into a magical, musical land where they fall in love, reak havoc on Gotham City, but ultimately end up back in Arkham Asylum as if they never left. It’s even possible that Harleen was never a psychiatrist at all, but just another patient of the mental institution. I imagine it like one giant Lady Gaga music video that’s a twist on that Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode, Normal Again.

Is it real? Is it all in the mind of a mental patient? It’s up to the audience to decide.
