Bad news: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is still a year away from release. Good news: we got a new look at the film’s villain today!
During the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Sony revealed details about the new Spider-Verse villain. Known as The Spot, he can use the spots on his body to dimension-hop anywhere he wants to go. Jason Schwartzman will voice the character.
You can take a look at The Spot below, engaged in a fight with Miles Morales’ Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will see Miles Morales return for another epic multiverse adventure. He’ll join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.
The Sony Pictures sequel will see Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld reprise their voice roles. Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson direct.
The original Into the Spider-Verse film won the Best Animated Feature Oscar, and brought in over $375 million worldwide. The upcoming movie will be the second in a planned Spider-Verse trilogy, with the final film planned for 2024.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse premieres in theaters June 2, 2023. Sony previously released a first-look trailer for the movie, which you can watch below.
