It seems that Netflix will be bringing another classic video game franchise into the anime (or rather, anime-esque) world with Dragon Age: Absolution. How do I know this? Well, you can watch their official teaser trailer from Geeked Week ’22 for yourself below and find out.
Castlevania: Dragon’s Blood?
Netflix and BioWare are proud to announce their new animated series Dragon Age: Absolution via that teaser trailer on YouTube. Said trailer showed off a high fantasy city, combat magical and mundane (but all bloody), some kind of Ouroboros ring that screams “MacGuffin!”, and a female elf character with an uncanny resemblance to Sypha Belnades from Castlevania who also seems to be our main character. No dragons though, unfortunately. I presume that a show with “Dragon” right there in its title would have at least 1 dragon in its teaser trailer. I guess not though. Hopefully, they’ll fix that in the actual show.
As for when we’ll get to see Dragon Age: Absolution? Well, right at the end of that teaser trailer, they reveal the premiere date of this show is sometime in December 2022. It doesn’t get any more specific than that, but that’s fine. It’s still a long ways off as of this writing. You have plenty of time to prepare for it.
Dragon Age: Absolution ~ Details
Here’s what we know so far about Dragon Age: Absolution. This animated/anime-esque show will only last for a grand total of 6 episodes, and is based off of the Dragon Age video game franchise by BioWare. Mairghread Scott will be the showrunner, with South Korean animation studio Red Dog Culture House (Love, Death & Robots, Centaurworld) producing.
As for what Dragon Age: Absolution will be about when we finally get to see it? Well, Netflix has a logline for us today that explains just a little bit more about the story. Not much more, and only dedicated Dragon Age fans will get some of it, but it will do for now. Check it out below:
“Created in collaboration with BioWare (creators of the award-winner Dragon Age video game franchise), Dragon Age: Absolution is set in Tevinter and features an ensemble of new characters inspired by Dragon Age lore, including elves, mages, knights, Qunari, Red Templars, demons and other special surprises. Additional details to be announced.”
