Attention Percy Jackson fans – we’ve just had a HUGE casting drop!
Percy Jackson and the Olympians officially begins filming today. To celebrate, the creative team revealed five additional cast members playing key roles in the series. The show cast Megan Mullally, Jason Mantzoukas, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, and Timm Sharp. Check out all of their character details below.
Mullally will play Alecto, aka Mrs. Dodds, one of the Furies moonlighting as Percy’s math teacher.
Mantzoukas will play Dionysus, a.k.a. Mr. D. The irritable and sarcastic Mr. D runs Camp Half Blood.
Kull will play Sally Jackson, Percy’s mother.
Turman will play Chiron, a.k.a Mr. Brunner, a centaur initially disguised as Percy’s Latin teacher.
Sharp will play Gabe Ugliano, Percy’s stepfather and Sally’s selfish, brash, and combative husband.
These five actors join the previously announced core trio of the series: Walter Scobell as Percy Jackson, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase.
The live-action Percy Jackson and the Olympians series adapts the popular YA books by Rick Riordan. The show tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.
Production on the Disney+ series begins in Vancouver today.
